SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team was defeated by UC Santa Barbara, 6-1, Monday afternoon in a Big West Conference road match. Toki Sherbakov claimed the lone Aggies' point with a win at No. 1 singles. UC Davis also won at No. 1 doubles. UCSB improved to 6-5 and 3-1 in the Big West while UC Davis fell to 4-7 and 1-2, respectively.

UCSB started the match by winning two of three in singles. The Gauchos' wins came at No. 2 and No. 3. The Aggie duo of Hunter Lee and Nick Lopez prevailed at No. 1 with an 8-6 victory over Scott Hohenstein and Evan Jurgensen.

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets with the Gauchos picking up wins at No. 2 through No. 6. The lone Aggie win came at the top of the order where Sherbakov disposed of Philip Therp, 7-6, 6-4. The win continues a strong debut for the Aggie freshman, who is 7-3 this season in dual match play. All seven of Sherbakov's wins have come from the top half of the order.

UC Davis returns to action Saturday when it plays at Saint Mary's at 12 p.m.
