DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's basketball team set a new program record for three point field goals made in regulation, by connecting on 15 triples en route to an 80-53 win over the Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts Saturday, at The Pavilion.

The Aggies broke the previous team season high of nine three point field goals by halftime, after shooting 10 for 18 from behind the arc in the opening period. For the game, UC Davis (4-5) shot 47 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three point range. Notre Dame de Namur (0-5) was held to 36 percent shooting as a team.

After trailing 46-20 at the break, the Argonauts looked to make a game out of it, cutting the deficit to 13 after a 17-4 run to start the second half. The Aggies responded with a 20-2 run of their own, effectively putting the game out of reach with a 70-39 score and 7:16 remaining in the game. UC Davis led by 20 plus points for the remainder of the game en route to the win.

All nine active players for the Aggies reached the scoring column, led by Eddie Miller, who had a game high 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting. Joe Harden also reached double figures with 12 points, while Tyler Les scored 12 points off the bench after 4 of 5 shooting from three. The Argonauts were led by Arron Mollet who had a team best 14 points.

"We haven't shot the ball as well as we would have liked from three. We took what they gave us tonight," said head coach Gary Stewart. "We had some opportunities from three and we knocked those down. That was very encouraging. I felt like we got off to a good start. We turned the ball over 10 times and our assist to turnover ratio was 2 to 1, so that was excellent."

UC Davis started the game by going 6 for 6 from behind the arc, taking an 18-4 advantage with 15:01 on the clock. The Aggies continued to increase their lead the the first half, going up 28-10, thanks to a Ryan Sypkens three at the 8:44 mark.

UC Davis ended the first half on a 10-1 run, using a Les three in the final minute to take a 42-20 lead at the intermission.

The Argonauts started the second half on fire, outscoring the Aggies by 13 over a 5:20 stretch, bringing the score to 50-37 with 14:20 on the clock. The game of runs continued, with UC Davis holding Notre Dame de Namur to just one field goal over seven minutes, as part of a 20-2 run.

The Aggies led by as many as 31 in the game, taking their biggest lead with a 70-39 score and 7:16 on the clock. The UC Davis lead did not dip below 27 in the remainder of the game, as the Aggies cruised to the final 80-53 score.

UC Davis recorded 20 assists on 27 field goals, while committing a season low 10 turnovers.

"We have a concentration on specific areas that we have identified that we need to improve," said Stewart. "We've been working diligently to try to do that and this gave us an opportunity to evaluate where we are."

UC Davis will enjoy an extended break next week, before getting back into action at UCLA on Monday, Dec. 13 in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
