AUSTIN - Heidi Kucera and Liliana Alvarez each recorded two additional NCAA "B" Consideration Standard times and Kucera finished third overall in the 200 breaststroke to lead the UC Davis women's swimming team to a sixth place finish at the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin.
Kucera and Alvarez hit their first "B" times during the 200 breast prelims as Kucera clocked in with a time of 2:14.01 while Alvarez hit a season-best time of 2:14.21. Both advanced to the event finals where Kucera finished third with a team best time of 2:11.66 and Alvarez placed eighth overall with a time of 2:15.12.
It marked the third top 10 finish for Kucera and the second for Alvarez. On the weekend, Kucera earned six NCAA "B" Consideration Standard times while Alvarez picked up four.
"Overall, this has been a really good meet for the Aggies," said head coach Barbara Jahn. "After we'll gear back up in yardage and get ready for conference."
The Aggies also earned a top 10 finish from Grace Benefield in the 1650 freestyle who recorded a season and team-best time of 17:12.57.
Linda Hermann finished in the top 20 in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.29, good enough for 13th place overall. She recorded a season and team-best time of 2:02.55 in the event prelims.
In the 100 freestyle, Kayleigh Foley finished 16th overall with a time of 51.01 after advancing via a season and team best time of 50.65 in the event prelims. Sabrina Cochrane and Samantha Capozzo finished 29th and 30th, respectively, with Cochrane recording a time of 52.17 and Capozzo clocking in at a lifetime best time of 52.30.
Jenah Dawson was the Aggies' top finisher in the 200 butterfly, placing 20th overall with a time of 2:07.37.
UC Davis' 400 freestyle relay finished seventh as Kucera, Cochrane, Foley and Hermann combined for a season best time of 3:26.34.
Texas finished first overall ahead of Arizona and Wisconsin.
The Aggies return to action January 15 as they host Pacific in a dual meet at Schaal Aquatics Center at 1 p.m.
