Final Stats
DAVIS, Calif. - Aisha Lott's goal in the 85th minute lifted UC Davis to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory Sunday over Chico State in a women's soccer exhibition at Aggie Soccer Stadium. The visiting Wildcats held a 1-0 lead heading into the decisive second half. Lisa Kemp also scored for the Aggies, who played their second and final exhibition of the preseason.
UC Davis was able to put consistent pressure on Chico State for most of the game and finished with an 18-5 advantage in shots. The Aggies posted nine shots in each half but trailed at the break after Ali Sward put Chico State on top in the 24th minute.
Once the second half started, it would take the Aggies less than a minute to even the score as Kemp connected in front of the goal from a cross by Marisa Boge. The score would remain tied for the next 39 minutes before the late goal by Lott. It was set up by a left corner kick by Samantha Faber that sailed to Rochelle VanBuskirk on the right half of the field. VanBuskirk lifted a pass in front of the net, and a header by Lott pushed it past the keeper for the 2-1 lead.
Faber and Boge each had four shots while VanBuskirk finished with three. For the second straight exhibition, Kathleen Brandl and Sarah Peters split time in goal with Brandl handling first-half duties.
UC Davis is next in action Aug. 23 when it opens its regular season at home against Sacramento State.
