DAVIS, Calif. - San Francisco scored a first-half goal that stood up as the Dons posted a 1-0 victory over UC Davis in a women's soccer exhibition Thursday afternoon at Aggie Soccer Stadium. It was the first of two preseason tune-ups for the Aggies who open their regular season Aug. 23.
The lone goal came in the 32nd minute when Ashley O'Brien connected on a header in front of the goal as the result of a cross from the right side by Samantha Brand. The action was part of a first half in which the Dons outshot the Aggies, 10-2. USF ended up with a 12-7 advantage in attempts. Jordan Martin and Allison Kelly each had two shots for UC Davis while four Dons posted two shots apiece.
UC Davis will take on Chico State Sunday in its final exhibition of the preseason. The contest gets underway at 11:30 a.m. at Aggie Soccer Stadium. UC Davis opens its season Aug. 23 at home against Sacramento State.
