IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team was defeated by No. 67 UC Irvine, 7-0, Friday in a Big West Conference match at the Anteater Tennis Stadium. UCI (9-13, 3-0 Big West) took two of three in doubles before winning all six singles matches. UC Davis (2-12, 0-3 Big West) picked up a win at No. 3 doubles from Josh Albert and Nic Amaroli.

UC Irvine took a 1-0 lead out of doubles into singles and made it 2-0 when Khunpol Issara defeated Hunter Lee, 6-0, 6-2. The next match to finish was on court 1 where Fabian Matthews outlasted Nick Lopez, 7-5, 6-0. A 7-5, 6-2 win by Steven Henderson at No. 2 over Michael Reiser gave the Anteaters a clinching 4-0 lead. Tyler Lee and Amaroli battled back at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, as the two each won their second sets. The matches were ultimately decided in super-tiebreakers.

The Aggies continue their road trip Saturday when they play at UC Riverside.
