Final Stats

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Davis fell to UC Riverside, 4-0, Sunday in a Big West Conference softball game at Harrison Field. Coupled with Saturday's doubleheader split, the Highlanders ended up taking the three-game series. UCR scored two runs in both the second and third innings while holding back an eight-hit Aggie attack. Belinda Paine and Marissa Araujo each had two hits for UC Davis (21-21, 5-7 Big West).

The first five hits for UCR (17-24, 6-6 Big West) were of the extra-base variety. Two came in the second inning, including a solo homer by Marissa Alvidrez to make it 1-0. Later in the inning, an RBI-triple by Quinn Redman gave the Highlanders a 2-0 lead. In the third inning, three doubles led to two more runs to give UCR a 4-0 lead.

UC Davis ended up outhitting UC Riverside, 8-7, and had at least one hit in six of the seven innings. The Aggies, however, were unable to push a runner past second base.

UC Davis returns to action Thursday when it hosts Oregon State in a doubleheader. Action gets underway at 1:30 p.m. at La Rue Field.
