INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team was defeated by UC Santa Barbara, 4-0, Friday afternoon in the first round of the Big West Tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The Gauchos won twice in doubles before claiming wins in the first three singles matches to finish.

Doubles began with a UCSB victory at No. 2. Scott Hohenstein and Evan Jurgensen posted an 8-6 win over Tyler Lee and Michael Reiser. At no. 1, the Gauchos clinched the point as Josh Finkelstein and Alex Konigsfeldt outlasted Hunter Lee and Nick Lopez, 8-6.

In singles, Taylor Chavez Goggin was first to finish after a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Chris Aria. UCSB made it 3-0 when Max Taylor defeated Tyler Lee, 6-4, 6-1. The clinching victory came from Hohenstein, who claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 against Hunter Lee. The matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 did not finish since UCSB (9-12) had already clinched the victory.

Friday's match ends the Aggies' season and also marked the final collegiate match for Reiser, who is the lone senior for UC Davis (3-16).
