SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team was defeated by Santa Clara, 5-2, in a non-conference match Saturday in Santa Clara. The Broncos secured the doubles point with a pair of wins before posting victories at the top four singles spots. Tyler Lee and Nic Amaroli claimed wins for the Aggies while Lee teamed with Josh Albert for the lone doubles victory.
Lee defeated Charlie Burke, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5 singles while Amaroli did the same at No. 6 against John Iwanksi. All but one of the singles matches finished in straight sets. The only three-setter was at No.1 where Jay Wong outlasted Nick Lopez, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
Albert and Lee picked up an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles against Burke and Iwanksi.
UC Davis (1-7) is next in action March 7 when it begins a four-match homestand against UC Santa Cruz at 1 p.m.
