DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's tennis team defeated UC San Diego, 6-1, Friday afternoon in a non-conference match at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies swept through doubles before winning five more times in singles. Randi Schuler, Desiree Stone, Dahra Zamudio and Herzyl Legaspi each won in doubles and singles. The win improves UC Davis to 7-7 on the year while UCSD fell to 3-2.

Schuler and Stone teamed at No. 1 doubles and defeated Taskeen Bains and Ina Dan, 8-4. Jenna Kappel and Andrea Phillips did the same at No. 3 in an 8-1 victory over Valerie Tang and Tessa Tran. Legaspi and Zamudio also picked a win at No. 2 after the doubles point had been clinched.

In singles, Schuler, Stone, Zamudio and Legaspi won in straight sets at No. 1 through No. 4, respectively. Schuler defeated Natalie Varnay, 6-0, 6-2, and Stone was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Dan.

Zamudio won her fourth straight match and sixth of her past seven with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Anita Athavale at No. 3. Legaspi defeated Tang at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2. Jessica Harris was also victorious in singles by defeating Tran, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 6.

UC Davis returns to action March 6 when it hosts Pacific in a Big West Conference match at 2 p.m.
