DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team was defeated by No. 58 UC Santa Barbara, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference match at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Gauchos swept doubles before winning four out of six singles matches. Nick Lopez and Nic Amaroli each picked up victories for UC Davis (1-4). UCSB improved to 2-4.

In doubles, Josh Finkelstein and Alexander Konigsfeldt defeated Amaroli and Michael Reiser at No. 1, 8-6. It was the same score at No. 2 where Scott Hohenstein and Evan Jurgensen defeated Hunter Lee and Lopez. The Aggies' Josh Albert and Tyler Lee suffered an 8-4 loss at No. 3.

Konigsfeldt and Finkelstein won again in singles with victories at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively. The Gauchos also claimed wins at No. 4 and No. 5.

For the Aggies, it was Lopez who prevailed at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Max Taylor. Amaroli was also a straight sets winner in his match at No. 6 as he downed Nick Caledonia, 6-1, 6-3.

UC Davis is next in action Sunday when it plays at Santa Clara in a match originally scheduled for Jan. 24.
