Aggie Men's Swimming Signs Jacob McGough

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's swimming team has signed Jacob McGough to a National Letter of Intent, announced head coach Peter Motekaitis. McGough will join the Aggies as a freshman starting with the 2010-11 season. He is a native of Fresno, Calif. and currently attends Clovis West High School.

"Jacob is extremely well-schooled and a seasoned swimmer," said Motekaitis. "He will bring years of experience and a great work ethic to our team. We're very excited to have him as the newest Aggie."

McGough will letter three years in swimming at Clovis West and has helped lead his team to back-to-back CIF championships in 2008 and 2009.

Individually, McGough achieved All-American honors in the 200 individual medley in 2008 and again in 2009 in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Most recently, he was named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and qualified for the USA Swimming Junior Nationals in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 fly and 100 fly.

McGough is a member of the National Honor Society and the Math Team at Clovis West.

The UC Davis men's swimming team returns to action Thursday, Dec. 3 when they compete at the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas.
