STANFORD, Calif. -- UC Davis continued a grueling stretch of road matches with a 7-0 loss at No. 5 Stanford Wednesday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Cardinal, featuring two ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team, swept through both doubles and singles. The match comes three days after the Aggies took on No. 21 Arizona State.
Stanford (1-0) opened doubles with a victory at No. 1 as the No. 41 team of Hilary Barte and Lindsay Burdette defeated Jenna Kappel and Randi Schuler, 8-0. The doubles point was clinched at No. 3 as Stanford took an early 1-0 lead. UC Davis (2-3) was swept in singles as No. 26 Barte and No. 97 Burdette won at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
The victory extended Stanford's home winning to 135 matches, dating back to the 1999 season and including post-season play.
UC Davis will next be in action Friday when it hosts Santa Clara in its home opener. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
