DAVIS, Calif. - Senior midfielder Dylan Curtis has been named the Big West Conference Co-Player of the Week for the period ending September 21, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. This is the first weekly honors for Curtis and marks the second time this season that UC Davis has had a conference player of the week.
Curtis led UC Davis to a 2-0 showing at the USD/SDSU Tournament with a game-winning goal and assist. His game-winning goal came on a penalty kick in the 104th minute to give the Aggies a 2-1 win over San Diego on Friday. He assisted Quincy Amarikwa's game-winner in Sunday's 2-1 decision over San Diego State. He also assisted Sule Anibaba's goal to record his fourth two-assist game of the season. All three players were named to the all-tournament team.
Curtis joins Amarikwa as UC Davis players who have earned weekly conference honors this season. He shares the honor with Andrew Fontein of UC Irvine, who also earned all-tournament honors in San Diego last weekend.
The Aggies return to action this week as they renew their Causeway Cup rivalry with Sac State on Thursday at Hornet Field at 4 p.m. They return home on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Air Force.
