Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. - Amid sunny skies and triple-digit heat, UC Davis and San Jose battled to a scoreless tie, Friday, in non-conference women's soccer action at Aggie Soccer Stadium. It was the home opener for the Aggies, who moved to 1-1-1 on the season. San Jose State, in search of its first victory, is now 0-2-1.

UC Davis was able to steadily put pressure on SJSU as it finished with a 22-8 advantage in shots. The Aggies outshot the Spartans, 5-0, in overtime, but both goalkeepers were able to make key saves to thwart each offensive opportunity.

Four Aggies posted at least three shots with Samantha Faber leading the team with five. Rochelle VanBuskirk had four while Gabina Bohlman and Marisa Boge each finished with three.

On the other side, San Jose State's Roxy Karmal and Stephanie Righetti each had two shots.

In goal, Sarah Peters finished with five saves for UC Davis while lowering her goals against average to 1.20. Jordan Santos was equally effective in net for San Jose State with eight saves.

While holding San Jose State without a corner kick, UC Davis was unable to capitalize on its four corners.

The temperature to start Friday's game was 102 degrees. The tie was the Aggies' first since Oct. 15, 2006.

UC Davis is next in action Sunday when it hosts Navy. The game, which is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., will cap off a doubleheader with the men's soccer team.
