Bohlman's Goal Lifts Aggies In Exhibition Play

Aug. 15, 2008

DAVIS, Calif. - Senior Gabina Bohlman converted a pass from junior Jordan Martin for a goal in the 64th minute of play, leading UC Davis to a 1-0 win over Cal State Stanislaus in a women's collegiate exhibition soccer game at the Russell Intramural Field Friday afternoon.

Bohlman's goal was one of 18 Aggie shots for the day, compared to six by the visiting Warriors. UC Davis juniors Marisa Boge and Delcie Thankachan each fired three shots to lead all players. The two teams fielded 43 combined players during the friendly, including five total goalkeepers.

The Aggies' closest first-half threat came in the 33rd minute when freshman Anna Quigley found herself in a 1-v-1 situation inside the CSUS penalty box. However, Warrior junior keeper Jessica Sitarz smothered the shot for one of her three saves. Thankachan and freshman Samira Jaafari also had strong shot attempts at the Warrior cage early in the second period, but were unable to finish.

UC Davis squares off against Chico State on Sunday before beginning regular-season play at Saint Mary's on August 22.
