Aggies Honored By All-American Football Foundation

June 21, 2008

DAVIS, Calif. - Greg Warzecka, Director of Athletics at UC Davis, along with associate athletics director Bob Bullis and former longtime assistant football coach Fred Arp will be honored on Monday by the All-American Football Foundation at its 95th Banquet of Champions at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, annouced Jimmie McDowell, president of the organization.

Warzecka is a General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Athletic Director honoree, Bullis will be presented the Outstanding Associate Athletic Director Award and Arp is recipient of the Mike Campbell Top Assistant Coach Award.

Warzecka is in his 13th year at UC Davis and has helped guide the UC Davis athletics program from a successful tenure in NCAA Division II to its new membership in Division I and the Big West Conference. From 1996-2003, UC Davis captured six Directors' Cups as the most successful Div. II athletics program.

UC Davis enjoyed success in its inaugural Div. I year in 2007-08 with 10 teams participating in NCAA postseason competition.

Bullis has played a major role in the building of Aggie Stadium, a $31 million facility for UC Davis football and women's lacrosse which had a majority of its funding approved by undergraduate students in 1999. Aggie Stadium, one of the newest collegiate stadiums in the country, opened last year with state-of-the-art amenities and will host its first night games this fall.

Arp retired as assistant head coach for the Aggies after more than four decades with the program. He coached in more than half of UC Davis' all-time games, and had players earn five All-America first-team awards and three Academic All-America honors. Three of his players played professionally while five have been inducted into the Cal Aggie Athletics Hall of Fame. Arp retired from coaching after the 2007 season.
