Raycraft Leads All-American Water Polo Trio

June 18, 2008

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis senior attacker Christi Raycraft was selected to the 2008 All-America second team, it was announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches on Wednesday. She was one of three Aggies to earn All-America distinction this year, as senior center Laura Uribe and junior attacker Lindsay Kiyama also captured honorable mention.

Raycraft's second-team nod stands as the highest Division I All-America honor in UC Davis women's water polo history. The previous bests were third-team selections for Katherine O'Rourke in 2007 and Tiffany Hodgens in 2001. A hometown favorite - she is a graduate of nearby Davis Senior High - Raycraft lead the Aggies with 53 goals, 22 blocked shots and a school-record 91 drawn exclusions, while adding 42 steals and 15 assists. She also earned All-Western Water Polo Association first-team accolades and was named to all-tournament teams at the WWPA and NCAA championship events.

Kiyama, who recently claimed the university's W.P. Lindley Award as the outstanding scholar-athlete of the year, scored 38 goals with 33 assists while pacing UC Davis with 54 steals. She also added 14 field blocks and won 90 of 101 sprints. A Concord, Calif. native, Kiyama finished the season in particularly strong form, scoring a hat trick in her team's NCAA first-round win over San Diego State, helping her earn a spot on the all-tournament second team.

Uribe, a former transfer from Chaffey College, tallied 51 goals with 22 assists for a team-leading 71 points in her second year with the program. She earned All-WWPA second-team honors then earned a spot on the WWPA all-tournament team for her seven-goal performance in the Aggies' title run.

UC Davis finished with a school-record 27-10 record, placed fourth at the NCAA Championship during May, then finished fifth in the final national coaches' poll.
