SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Davis was defeated by No. 56 UC Santa Barbara, 6-1, Saturday afternoon as it began a two-match road trip against Big West Conference foes. The Gauchos won all three doubles matches before taking five out of six in singles. Daniel Elefant picked up the lone win for UC Davis (8-9, 1-2 Big West). UC Santa Barbara improved to 10-6 overall and 3-1 in the Big West.

In doubles, Jack Hui and Philip Therp posted an 8-1 victory at No.1 over Elefant and Michael Reiser. Josh Finkelstein and Alxander Konigsfeldt defeated Justin Garcia and Henri Landes, 8-4, at No. 2. In addition, Nigel Barton and Bijan Hejazi claimed an 8-1 win at No. 3 over Nic Amaroli and Kevin Liang as the Gauchos led 1-0 heading to singles.

UCSB won its five singles matches in straight sets. The only match that went longer than two sets was Elefant's at No. 4. The senior defeated Konigsfeldt, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) to account for the Aggies' lone point. UCSB wins included Therp at No. 1 and Hejazi at No. 2. In addition, Hui won at No. 3 while Max Taylor and Finkelstein were victorious at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

UC Davis concludes its road trip Sunday with a match at Cal Poly.
