GOLD RIVER, Calif. - UC Davis defeated Gonzaga, 4-3, Friday in a match that took virtually all day to complete. The teams started in the afternoon with doubles at the Marya Welch Tennis Center in Davis before rain forced the completion of the match at night at the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center in Gold River. In the end, the Aggies battled back from dropping the doubles point and won four of six in singles.

The lone win for UC Davis (6-4) in doubles came from Nic Amaroli and Kevin Liang, who defeated Conor Feeney and Cooper Fratt, 8-4, at No. 3. The other two matches went to the Bulldogs as Gonzaga (3-4) led 1-0 heading to singles.

Four singles matches went three sets, including what turned out to be the clinching match at No. 4. Nick Lopez defeated Feeney, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 to give the Aggies their fourth point of the match. Lopez joined earlier wins by Daniel Elefant, Tyler Lee and Justin Garcia.

Elefant defeated Fratt at No. 5, 6-0, 7-5. Lee was also a straight sets winner for the Aggies at No. 6, prevailing, 6-4, 6-3, over Charles Adams. Garcia's match featured a pair of tiebreakers. The UC Davis senior lost a first set tiebreaker to Stefan Feddersen, 7-1, before winning the second set via a tiebreaker. That set up a fateful third set in which Garcia won 6-3.

UC Davis is next in action Saturday afternoon when it faces Sacramento State at the same indoor facility.
