DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis claimed its first Big West Conference win of the season by defeating UC Riverside, 5-2, at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies won the doubles point and followed with four wins in singles. The win improves UC Davis to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big West. UCR dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big West.

Justin Garcia and Henri Landes started things for UC Davis at No. 1 doubles by defeating Joe Cartledge and John Park, 8-2. The Aggies clinched the doubles point when Daniel Elefant and Michael Reiser defeated Quac Doan and Ahmad Shiraz, 8-5. The Highlanders' Sebastian Ko and Jack Tadevosian picked up a win at No. 3 over Hunter Lee and Tyler Lee.

Leading 1-0 heading into singles, UC Davis doubled its advantage as Nick Lopez defeated Park, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 4. Garcia was next to finish as he prevailed over Gorjan Kovacevic, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2. That gave the Aggies a 3-0 lead. The overall win was clinched when Elefant posted a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Doan at No. 4 to put UC Davis up 4-0. Kevin Liang also picked up a win for the Aggies at No. 6.

UC Davis is next in action Sunday when it hosts San Francisco in a non-conference match. Doubles action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
