PORTLAND, Ore. - No. 75 UC Davis suffered its first loss of the season, Friday, in a 6-1 loss to Portland at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center in Portland. The Pilots won all three doubles matches before taking five of six in singles. Daniel Elefant was the lone winner for UC Davis. The loss drops the Aggies to 3-1 on the season.
In doubles, UP's Joel Kincaid and Charlie Yemm posted an 8-3 win over the Aggies' Hunter Lee and Tyler Lee at No. 3. At No. 1, it was Charlie Yemm and Filip Zivkovic winning 8-5 over Elefant and Michael Reiser. Justin Garcia and Henri Landes suffered an 8-6 loss at No. 2 to Evan Schleining and Bryan Thorp.
The Pilots (3-1) were equally dominant in singles, with four of their five wins coming in straight sets. Kincaid defeated Reiser at No. 1, 6-4, 6-4, and Landes suffered his first dual singles loss of the season at No. 2. Nick Lopez and Tyler Lee were defeated at No. 3 and No. 6, respectivey.
Garcia went three sets with Schleining at No. 4 before the Pilot eventually won 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3). Elefant also went to a super tiebreaker in his match at No. 5 with Yemm before picking up the Aggies' lone point with a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) victory.
UC Davis is next in action Saturday when it faces Portland State before concluding its road trip in Portland Sunday against Montana State.
