DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis midfielder Paul Marcoux has been named the Big West Conference Player of the Week for the period ending October 5, the conference office announced Monday morning. This is the second weekly conference award for Marcoux and the third time in six weeks that UC Davis has been awarded a recipient.
Marcoux, a junior from Mountain View, Calif., totaled a goal and an assist to help lead the Aggies to a 1-0-1 showing last week. He scored the team's lone goal in a 1-1 tie with then-No. 18 UC Irvine on Wednesday. Marcoux assisted the eventual game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Cal Poly on Saturday as his throw-in led to a Miles Hadley goal in the fourth minute of play. UC Davis is now unbeaten in it's last eight games.
Marcoux earned the final player of the week honors of the 2007 season and becomes the first UC Davis player to earn the honors twice. He joins teammates Quincy Amarikwa and Dylan Curtis as Aggies who have been named conference player of the week this season.
The Aggies return to conference action this week with two road games. They open the week on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game at Cal State Fullerton before traveling to No. 15 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday for another 7 p.m. contest.
