FRESNO, Calif. - Chris Aria, Hunter Lee and Kevin Liang all picked up wins Friday on the first day of action at the Bulldog Classic, hosted by Fresno State. The three are among a group of seven Aggies taking part in the three-day tournament featuring three singles and two doubles draws. Aria, Lee and Liang all won their matches in the Singles C draw.
Lee outlasted San Diego's Tom Wolff in a match that lasted nearly three hours. The Aggie junior came from a set down to post a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 victory in the round of 32. Liang cruised past Peder Steen of San Francisco, 6-0, 6-1, while Aria was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Cal Poly's Nick Berger. All three Aggies were defeated in the following round.
Also in action for UC Davis was senior Michael Reiser, who was defeated by Washington's David Chu, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, in the A draw. Tyler Lee fell to Fresno's Flavio Mollinedo in straight sets in the B draw. Nick Hallchurch and Nic Amaroli rounded out the UC Davis contingent with first round defeats in the C draw.
Singles and doubles action continues Saturday before the tournament concludes on Sunday.
