DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis senior midfielder Dylan Curtis has been named the Big West Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 26, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. It marks the second weekly conference honor for Curtis and gives UC Davis five of the 11 weekly recipients this season.
Curtis, a native of Pleasanton, tallied game-tying goals from 15 yards out in consecutive games to help lead UC Davis to a 1-0-1 record in conference play. The first goal came Wednesday against Cal State Northridge and helped ignite the Aggies' two-goal rally in the 3-2 victory. Curtis netted the only score in the Aggies' 1-1 tie with No. 20 UC Irvine on Saturday. He nearly notched the game-winning goal in the 60th minute, but his shot bounced off the post and was cleared out.
Curtis earned co-player of the week honors on Sept. 22 and joins fellow senior Quincy Amarikwa as UC Davis players who have received the weekly honor twice this season. Junior Paul Marcoux was the other Aggie to earn conference player of the week honors and has also won the award two times in his career.
UC Davis faces its lightest week of the season with just one game. They travel to play Cal Poly Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
