DAVIS, Calif.-- UC Davis soccer fans can double up their votes for senior midfielder Dylan Curtis in the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award as it was announced Thursday that text voting will be available for the first time in the award's history. Beginning October 24 at 3 p.m., fans can vote for Curtis by texting S3 to 839863 on their cellular phone. Standard text rates do apply.
Curtis, a native of Pleasanton, was named a finalist for the award on Oct. 16 when the list was narrowed from 30 to 10. Curtis has continued to improve upon his career highs and now owns four goals and 10 assists for 18 points.
Along with sending their votes via text message, fans can also vote for Curtis by clicking here. Voting runs through November 19 and fans are encouraged to vote daily for their candidate. The fans' votes will account for 25 percent of the total with coaches, media and sponsors making up the remaining vote totals.
Curtis is the lone West Coast men's soccer finalist for the award, which is presented annually to senior student-athletes across nine NCAA Division I sports who best exemplify dedication and achievement in four areas: classroom, character, community and competition.
The men's winner will be announced during the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championships in Frisco, Texas, scheduled for Dec. 12-14.
