NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge defeated UC Davis, 2-0, Friday afternoon in a Big West Conference women's soccer game in Northridge. The Matadors scored both goals in the second half after the game was scoreless through 56 minutes. The loss drops UC Davis to 6-5-3 on the year and 1-3-1 in the Big West. Cal State Northridge snapped a seven-game winless streak and improved to 6-7-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the conference.
The Matadors took the lead in the 57th minute when Nancy Avesyan scored her third goal of the season to make it 1-0. It stayed that way until the 81st minute when Brielle Slepicoff connected to increase the lead to 2-0.
UC Davis outshot Cal State Northridge, 17-12. Gabina Bohlman and Jordan Martin topped the Aggies with three shots apiece. Lisa Kemp and Molly Scott each finished with two. Avesyan led the game with five shots.
Sarah Peters finished with seven saves for UC Davis while the outing snapped a streak of eight consecutive games in which she allowed one goal or less.
UC Davis is next in action next week when it hosts UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly to close out its home schedule.
