Complete Match-by-Match Results in PDF Format

DAVIS, Calif. - Redshirt freshman Abe Otrambo earned a major decision in the 197-pound finale, but Cal State Bakersfield won the previous nine matches to secure a 32-4 victory over UC Davis in a Pacific-10 dual at Hickey Gymnasium Wednesday night.

The Aggies have now lost three straight dual matches and are 3-4 overall and 1-4 against conference opponents. The Roadrunners improve to 6-1 on the season and 5-1 in conference duals.

Otrambo was the lone Aggie to secure a win on the night as he earned a 10-2 major decision over Garth Wara in the final bout of the evening, thus helping the Aggies avoid the shutout.

"We lost a few matches we should have won tonight," said Aggie coach Lennie Zalesky "Right now we just need to start building some momentum for the upcoming Pac-10 Championships."

The 'Runners won the first nine matches and got major decisions from Jeremy Doyle at 149 pounds and Daniel Atondo at 165 pounds. They also received six points as UC Davis was forced to forfeit at 184 pounds.

The Aggies came up short in a couple close matches. Redshirt freshman Ricky Alcala lost the opening match at heavyweight as Ryan Bergman scored a takedown in the final seconds to win 3-1. It was the first dual lose for Alcala this season. Junior Jon Clark returned after a month off from training and narrowly lost at 174 pounds to Jason Points, 6-4.

UC Davis continues its run of Pac-10 duals on Friday with a trip down to Cal Poly. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and can be seen live through the Mustangs' website at gopoly.com. There will be a charge of $4.95 to access the live video stream.
