DAVIS, Calif. -- Nevada defeated UC Davis, 4-1, Friday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Aggie Soccer Stadium. The Wolf Pack scored the game's first goal less than one minute into the first half and never trailed. Rochelle VanBuskirk scored the lone Aggies' goal. UC Davis fell to 4-5-0 on the year while Nevada improved to 2-5-1. Four different Wolf Pack scored goals as Samantha Miller and Cristen Drummond each finished with a goal and an assist.
Nevada wasted little time taking an early lead when Miller scored on a put-back from a Drummond shot just 59 seconds into the game. Miller tapped in a loose ball from near the left post resulting from Drummond's shot to give Nevada a 1-0 lead.
In the 14th minute, the Aggies tied it on a goal from VanBuskirk. The sophomore received a pass from Jordan Martin, pulled the keeper out on the left side, and blasted a line-drive into the right corner to tie the game at 1-1. It was VanBuskirk's third goal of the season.
Nevada regained the lead for good in the 26th minute when Blaine Dugan's header just made it into the goal. Aggie keeper Megan Daws was able to grab the ball but not before it crossed the plane of the goal as the Wolf Pack took a 2-1 lead.
The score would remain 2-1 through halftime and into the second half before Vanessa Mann connected for her first goal of the season in the 57th minute to make it 3-1. Drummond put the Wolf Pack in front 4-1 in the 81st minute when she scored the game's final goal.
UC Davis took 16 shots on the day compared to 15 for Nevada. Samantha Faber finished with six shots.
Daws posted four saves while Nevada's Marie Cove had five stops.
UC Davis is next in action Oct. 5 when it hosts Cal State Northridge in a Big West game at Aggie Soccer Stadium.
