FULLERTON, Calif. - Sophomore middle blocker Alex Wolnisty posted 13 kills and hit .375 to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 30-16, 30-26, 30-22 sweep over UC Davis in a Big West Conference women's volleyball match at Titan Gym Friday evening.

The Aggies fall to 3-10 for the season and 0-2 in conference play. The Titans improve to 6-5 overall and open at 1-0 in Big West action.

Freshman Kayla Varney recorded a double-double for UC Davis, leading her team with 13 kills and a match-high 16 digs. Another freshman, middle blocker Julie King, turned in another solid outing with 4-1-10 hitting and two of the Aggies' six blocks. Junior Erin Turner chipped in 12 kills on offense.

In a match in which Fullerton's edge was very slight in kills (43 to 41) and digs (47-46), UC Davis was plagued by a total of 30 hitting errors, hitting just .085 for the match. The Aggies hit minus-.081 in the first game, falling behind by an 11-5 deficit after Titan freshman Erin Saddler's consecutive aces. UC Davis never approached closer than eight points in the opener.

The Aggies had their best chance in Game 2, recovering from a 10-4 hole to tie the frame at 15-15 behind back-to-back kills from junior Renee Ibekwe. UC Davis briefly held a one-point edge at 16-15 but Fullerton scored later scored three straight to claim the lead for good. The Aggies fought back to a one-point deficit on two occasions, but late offense from Titan right side hitter Brittany Moore kept Fullerton in the lead.

The Titans virtually never trailed in the third set, hitting .394 on 33 swings in the finale. Moore had six of her team's 16 kills as Fullerton held at least a four-point edge for the final half of the game.

UC Davis returns to action at home, hosting Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara on September 28 and 29.
