Aggies Drop Overtime Game At Xavier

Cincinnati, Ohio - Jimmy Cummings scored a goal six minutes into the first overtime period to give Xavier a 1-0 victory over UC Davis on the first night of the Ramada Xavier Challenge at XU Soccer Complex. The loss is the Aggies' first as an official NCAA Division I institution. The Musketeers outshot the Aggies by a count of 17-10 and managed a total of eight shots on goal.

It marked the season-opening game for both teams.

In only his second start as a collegiate goalkeeper, senior Brian Wickers recorded seven saves in 96:19 minutes between the pipes.

Cummings', who sat out the 2006 season due to an injury, scored the game-winning goal at the 6:19 mark during the first overtime period as he sent a ball from El-Hadji Dieng from outside the box over Wickers' outstretched arms.

Dylan Curtis led the Aggie charge up front with three shots, all of which were on goal. Nicholas Lind managed to get off two shots. Ahmad Hatifie and Dan Campbell each had one shot on frame.

Dieng and Cummings each managed four total shots to lead Xavier.

Along with outshooting the Aggies, Xavier also held the edge in corner kicks, 7-5.

UC Davis concludes its trip to Ohio on Sunday with a 9:00 a.m. game against Pittsburgh.
