Flushman Named Assistant Athletics Director At UC Davis

Aug. 16, 2007

DAVIS, Calif. - Josh Flushman, most recently the Director of Olympic Sports Operations at the University of California, Berkeley, has been named Assistant Athletics Director at UC Davis responsible for football operations, camps and event management, it was announced on Thursday by Director of Athletics Greg Warzecka.

Flushman replaces Mitch Campbell who resigned in June in order to become the Athletics Director and Dean of Physical Education at nearby Sacramento City College.

Flushman, a 2000 graduate in psychology from UC Davis, has been the Director of Olympic Sports at Cal since last summer after serving as Olympic Sports Operations Assistant since early 2001. As director, he managed day-to-day and long-term operations for 24 men's and women's Olympic sports at Cal while advising and assistant in all aspects of the programs including budgeting, NCAA rules compliance, event management, recruiting and other duties. Flushman held similar duties as an assistant.

Flushman also served as championship director for a Pac-10 Cross Country Championship as well as several NCAA Championship events hosted by Cal, including those for tennis, volleyball and men's and women's soccer. Additionally, he managed the Cal Guadalajara Golf Invitational in Mexico.

At UC Davis, Flushman will serve as Director of Football Operations, overseeing administrative responsibilities for all aspects of the Aggies' growing NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision program. He will also handle oversight and administration of all youth sports camps at UC Davis while coordinating event management duties for home athletics events.

"Josh brings a diverse set of skills to a very important position in our program," said Warzecka. "He has demonstrated sport expertise and administrative leadership at Cal; vital qualities which will serve him well as we begin Division I membership."

Besides majoring in psychology at UC Davis, Flushman earned a minor in human development. He later earned a master's in sports psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 2005. Flushman will begin his new duties on Monday.
