DAVIS, Calif. - Dakotah Mohr, Davis High standout and UC Davis women's water polo's lone National Letter of Intent (NLI) signee for 2006-07, was selected as one of 16 members of the USA Women's Youth National Team, it was announced this week.
This is Mohr's second year with the WYNT, making her the second Aggie in the program's 11-year varsity history to have played for the national squad. Former UC Davis volunteer assistant coach and record-holder Tiffany Hodgens made the team in 1998 while a prep at the Bishop's School in San Diego.
The 2007 WYNT comprises 16 girls, most of whom were born in 1989 or 1990. A somewhat larger group was selected to a training squad during the National Zone Championships in May, then that list was pared down to a final travel roster at a training camp that concluded on Sunday.
Mohr was earned Sac-Joaquin Section co-MVP honors as a senior this spring, helping the Blue Devils to a berth in the section title game. The award was her fourth straight All-SJS nod, and will put her in line for her second NISCA All-America accolade later this summer. Mohr was chosen as Davis High's Female Athlete of the Year.
The WYNT will participate in an international tournament and common training in Australia on July 3-4.
Mohr is expected to enroll at UC Davis for the upcoming fall quarter. The Aggies went 25-7 in 2007, finishing 10th in the final national coaches' poll.
