DAVIS, Calif. - UC Santa Barabara posted a 5-2 victory over host UC Davis in women's tennis action Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Gauchos swept through doubles play before winning four out of six singles matches. Desiree Stone and Herzyl Legaspi each picked up wins for UC Davis. The loss drops the Aggies to 9-9 on the year while the Gauchos improved to 7-6.
In doubles, Carina Bjornstrom and Asagi Onaga were the first to finish their match with an 8-6 victory over Robin Guier and Stone at No. 2. The point was clinched when Tova Hausman and Brittany Kausen picked up a win at No. 3 over Anita Athavale and Emma Shapiro.
In singles, Bjornstrom, Onaga, Hausman and Kausen all picked up straight sets victories to help clinch the overall victory for UCSB.
For the Aggies, Stone collected her 12th win overall as she defeated Marta Simic, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2, at No. 1. Legaspi was victorious at No. 3 when she defeated Charlotte Scatliffe, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7).
UC Davis next faces San Francisco April 6 on the road.
