STOCKTON, Calif. - UC Davis claimed four singles victories and one doubles win on the first day of competition, Friday, at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton. Shaun Garcia, Henri Landes, Kevin Liang and Hunter Lee all were victorious in their opening round singles matches. Lee teamed with brother Hunter to win in doubles.

On the singles side, Landes advanced in Flight A with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sonoma State's Connor Olson in the round of 16. In Flight C, the Aggies went 3-1 on the day in the round of 16. Liang outlasted Nevada's Cameron Spearman, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 while Hunter Lee defeated Jeff Emmerson of Saint Mary's, 6-2, 6-4. Shaun Garcia was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over SMC's Matt Welty.

Landes, Liang, Lee and Garcia will all play in the quarterfinals of their respective flights on Saturday.

The doubles is split into four flights without bracket play. Hunter Lee and Tyler Lee posted an 8-2 win over Emmerson and Welty in their Flight D first round match. Doubles teams will play a total of five rounds over the weekend.

UC Davis has eight players taking part in the three-day tournament. Six schools, including host Pacific, are represented. Saturday's schedule includes the continuation of the singles main draw along with the beginning of singles consolation matches. Rounds three and four of doubles are also on tap for day two.
