BERKELEY, Calif. - UC Davis freshman Nick Lopez advanced to the semifinals of Flight C with a win Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Chandler Cup in Berkeley, Calif. Lopez was also a part of another UC Davis victory on the doubles side. The Aggies are participating in the three-day event being hosted by Cal.

Lopez, who won two matches on Friday to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal match, faced UC Santa Cruz's Max Liberty-Point for the right to play in Sunday's semifinal. Lopez quickly won the first set, 6-2, before the second set was deadlocked at 6-6. Lopez proceeded to win the tiebreaker, 7-1, clinching the victory and advancing to Sunday's semifinal round of Flight C. He will face Cal's Geoff Chizever at 10:15 a.m. with the winner playing in the final at 1:30 p.m.

In doubles, Lopez teamed with Henri Landes to pick up a consolation win in the Flight B quarterfinals. The duo defeated Nevada's Gabe Kanzelmeyer and Kristian Kuharsky, 8-6.

The tournament concludes Sunday.
