UC Davis Falls To Cal Poly, 1-0

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal Poly turned a corner kick into a goal in the 52nd minute as it blanked visiting UC Davis, 1-0, Friday night in Big West Conference women's soccer action in San Luis Obispo. The win extended the host Mustangs' winning streak to five matches while the Aggies dropped to 6-10-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the Big West.

Cal Poly (6-8-1, 4-1-0) set up its scoring play just under seven minutes into the second half. Leah Morales started it with a corner kick into the box. Carrie Andrews met the corner with a header near the far post. Emily Hein found the loose ball on the other side of the frame and was able to head it past UC Davis keeper Sarah Peters. It was Hein's second goal of the season, giving the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

Each team finished the night with 10 shots. Seven of the Aggies' shots were on goal but none made it past Cal Poly keeper Alli Tramel. Peters finished with two saves for UC Davis.

Rochelle VanBuskirk and Marisa Boge each had three shots for the Aggies. Dayna Dumont and Britnee Warmerdam finished with two.

UC Davis concludes its road trip with a match at UC Santa Barbara Sunday at noon. It will mark he final regular season road match of the season for the Aggies.
