Less than two minutes later, Cope assisted on another goal by way of a corner kick from the left side. Horn met the kick in front of the goal and scored on a header to make it 2-0.
The score would remain 2-0 through the end of the first half, despite the Aggies owning a 9-3 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes.
The Aggies cut the deficit in half in the 54th minute when Megan Wall fed a pass from midfield to VanBuskirk down the middle of the field. It was the fifth goal of the year for VanBuskirk and the second in as many matches as UC Davis drew to within 2-1.
That was as close as the Aggies could get as the Anteaters held on for the one-goal victory. UC Davis outshot UC Irvine, 18-8.
The Aggies' Samatha Faber led the match with four shots. Marisa Boge and Molly Scott each had three while Wall, Jordan Martin and Gabina Bohlman finished with two.
