Aggies Edged On The Road By The Hornets

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Kayelyn Satkowski scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 79th minute as Sacramento State edged UC Davis, 2-1, in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Hornet Soccer Field. Freshman Marisa Boge scored her first collegiate goal and the loan goal of the day for the Aggies.

UC Davis (1-1-0) took an early 1-0 lead on Boge's goal in the 14th minute. Lacey Cobb picked up her second assist of the season on the play.

With just over five minutes remaining in the half, the Hornets tied the score when Katie McCoy connected off of a corner kick. Sarah Howard and Satkowski assisted on the goal.

The score remained tied well into the second half before Satkowski scored her second goal of the season with 11:43 left in the game.

UC Davis outshot Sacramento State, 13-8. Boge and Jordan Martin each had three shots while Cobb, Dayna Dumont and Annie McAllister each had two.

Megan Daws went the distance in goal and finished with three saves. The Hornets' Mandy Trojan collected five saves.

Sacramento State improved to 2-1-0 on the year.

UC Davis is next in action Wednesday when it takes on San Jose State in its home opener. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at Aggie Soccer Stadium. It will be the first of a two-game homestand that concludes Sept. 10 against Idaho State.
