IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomore J.T. Terrazas put back a rebound of teammate David Sias' shot attempt in the 49th minute for the lone goal in UC Irvine's 1-0 victory over UC Davis in men's collegiate soccer action at Anteater Stadium Saturday.
The Aggies end their season with a 9-7-2 record. The 28-ranked Anteaters match their school record for wins, improving to 12-3-3.
Both teams battled to a scoreless tie at the halftime break, with UC Davis outshooting its host by a 4-3 margin. Then early in the second half, Sias fired a shot on frame that Aggie goalkeeper Charles Warne stopped. Terrazas picked up the rebound and sent into the UC Davis net for the game-winner.
Seven different Aggie players each managed one shot during the contest, and four were saved by Irvine keeper Kenny Schoeni. Warne finished with five saves in his career finale. Also playing in their final UC Davis contests were defenders Russ Brown, Darren Hammond and Mariano Arrua.
UC Davis closes out its final season of the reclassification period to Division I status. The Aggies will begin play in the Big West Conference in 2007.
