STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Justin Garcia picked up two wins in consolation singles play to highlight UC Davis' results on the second day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional at Stanford Saturday. Garcia beat Thomas Dawson-Roberts in the second round of the draw, and Cal Poly's Nick Berger in round-robin play.
Freshman Nicolas Amaroli also picked up a victory in the first round of consolation singles play, beating Sacramento State's Ramon Perez by a 6-3, 6-1 final. Amaroli later lost to Geoff Embry of Oregon, battling the Duck freshman to a pair of tiebreakers.
Senior Michael Chin won his second-round consolation match against Holden Ching, taking down the Husky freshman in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Garcia, Chin and Daniel Elefant are the last remaining UC Davis players on Sunday's schedule.
