Men's Tennis Concludes Play At Bulldog Classic

Oct. 15, 2006

FRESNO, Calif. - Kevin Liang and Thomas McGee each won consolation titles in singles action as UC Davis concluded play at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic Sunday in Fresno. The duo was seeking a similar title in doubles action before falling in the final. The tournament was the second of the fall for the Aggies.

In Flight B consolation play, Liang was scheduled to take on Santa Clara's Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong in Sunday's title match. The Aggie freshman ended up winning the match by default as Hirakawa-Wong did not play due to injury.

In Flight C, McGee did take part in his scheduled match with San Diego's Laurence Kourie. McGee lost the first set 6-4 before coming back to take set two, 7-6. The two then played a super set to determine the match, and McGee prevailed 10-3.

Liang and McGee were also featured in the Flight B doubles consolation final, which was won by Sacramento State's Warwick Foy and Ramon Perez, 8-6.

The Aggies are next in action at ITA Northwest Championships next weekend at Stanford.
