NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Kristy Krohn scored a goal midway through the second overtime to lead host Cal State Northridge past UC Davis, 2-1, Friday afternoon in women's soccer action. The Matadors overcame a 1-0 first half deficit by scoring the tying goal in the 55th minute. Katie Snyder accounted for the Aggies' only goal. The loss drops UC Davis to 7-4-1 on the year, while Cal State Northridge improves to 9-6-0.
The match was scoreless into the 18th minute before Snyder connected on a free kick from about 35 yards out. She tucked the shot into the upper left corner of the net to put the Aggies on top 1-0.
The UC Davis defense would preserve the lead through halftime before the Matadors tied it at 1-1 in the 55th minute. That's when Sara Davis scored on assists from Susie Mischenko and Devon Nizich. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of regulation, sending the contest into overtime.
Krohn ended the match in the 105th minute when she tapped a shot into an empty net after Kristal Phillips chipped a pass over the Aggie goalkeeper, Megan Daws.
The Matadors outshot the Aggies, 13-11. Daws finished with four saves while CSUN's April Cline posted seven saves.
UC Davis concludes its road trip Sunday when it faces UC Irvine in a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
