SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Aggie junior outside hitter Nicole Read posted a team-best 13 kills and a .407 hitting average but it wasn't enough as UC Santa Barbara completed a 30-22, 30-26, 30-23 sweep over UC Davis in non-conference women's collegiate volleyball action at Robertson Gym Friday evening.

UCSB was led by its reigning Big West Conference Player of the Week, Janine Sandell, who had 20 kills on 52 swings. Freshman outside hitter Lauren McLaughlin added 11 kills and 11 digs to the Gaucho effort.

For UC Davis, setter Katelyn Astruc had four of her team's six service aces. Freshman libero Nichole Brown provided 13 digs on defense.

The Aggies valiantly fought back from a 29-19 game-point situation in the second game, scoring seven straight points to bring the Gaucho advantage to 29-26. UC Davis also came out strong in Game 3, opening up for a 4-1 lead and holding the edge until UCSB eventually tied the game at 11-11.
