DAVIS, Calif. -- Jon Grant, who threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns to help lead UC Davis to a 52-0 win against South Dakota State on Saturday night at Toomey Field, was named the Great West Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday morning.

Grant, a sophomore who started his first career game in the season-opening win, completed 20 of 24 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Grant had touchdown passes of 14, 18 and 12 yards during a first half in which he was 16 of 17 for 201 yards. UC Davis led 38-0 at halftime.

He added a six-yard touchdown pass to Jesse Oliva with 7:41 left in the third quarter, leaving the game after that score. Grant finished with 265 yards of total offense in the game.

Northern Colorado defensive back Reed Doughty was named the GWFC Defensive Player of the Week after tallying a game-high 17 tackles and intercepting two passes in the Bears' 15-13 win against North Dakota State. Northern Colorado placekicker Justin Zaitz tied a school record by making five field goals and accounting for all of the Bears' scoring.

UC Davis returns to action on September 18 when the Aggies visit Northern Colorado.
