DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis defensive tackle Chris Jones, a senior from Stockton, has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America® University Division Football SecondTeam, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Jones, along with senior defensive end Kent Sheridan, were earlier named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII team. Jones was honored on the all-district team for the second consecutive year.
The 6-3, 266-pound Jones finished the season with a 18 total tackles, including 14 assisted stops and 3.0 tackles-for-losses. Jones, who started eight of 10 games played, also broke up a pass. He is majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology and carries a 3.95 GPA.
Jones was earlier named to the All-District VIII team along with Sheridan, a 6-4, 247-pound senior from Grass Valley. Sheridan, who posted 24 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks for 22 yards in losses, has a 3.65 GPA in neurobiology, physiology & behavior.
