WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UC Davis pitcher Trevor Thornton has been named the Rawlings California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 7-13.
Thornton, a senior from Fairfield, earned the honor for the second time in three weeks after firing a one-hit, seven-inning 5-0 shutout against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday. He faced just two batters over the minimum, walking two and striking out two. Thornton carried a no-hitter into the final inning before giving up a one-out double. He became the first Aggie since 1996 to pitch a one-hitter in improving to 6-2 on the season.
