Vanessa Kitley was born and raised in California (East Bay Area). She started cheering at the age of 8 and continued to cheer throughout high school. She was on competitive All-Star teams and the Nationally ranked Cheer Team at Sacramento State all four years of college.

Vanessa began coaching the Junior Cheer Program in her hometown of San Ramon at age 15. She coached this team to a Jamz National Championship. Relocating to the greater Sacramento area, she coached at a competitive All-Star gym and in 2007 began her role as the Assistant Coach of the Sierra College Cheer Team. Â In 2010 Vanessa took over the Sierra College Cheer Program as the Head Coach while simultaneously working as the Head Coach at Folsom High School. Â She successfully conceptualized and initiated the first STUNT team at Sierra College. The Sierra College Cheer Team finished in the top three in their division for two consecutive years under Vanessa's leadership.

In 2013 Vanessa moved to Southern California and assumed the Head Coach position at Carlsbad High School for 3 seasons with a successful rebuilding of the Competitive Cheer Program. Â
In 2017, returning to the Sacramento area, she began her role as the head coach of the Cheer & STUNT Teams for UC Davis.
