Sky Valenzuela rounds out third-year head coach Tommy Nicholson's staff.
Valenzuela spent three seasons with Nicholson on Stanford's staff as video coordinator. During Valenzuela's time with the Cardinal, Stanford went twice to Regionals, twice to Super Regionals and advanced to the College World Series in 2021.
Prior to his time in Palo Alto, Valenzuela served as an assistant coach at Sierra College in Rocklin for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. At Sierra, Valenzuela was responsible for on-field work as the hitting and outfield coach as well as working with the Wolverines' infielders.
Valenzuela spent the previous four seasons prior to his stop at Sierra as an assistant at Abilene Christian. He primarily worked with the infielders, catchers and hitters at Abilene Christian.
He began his playing career at Sierra in 2007, helping the Wolverines to a California State Championship in 2008. He went on to play two years at Abilene Christian primarily as an infielder but also seeing time in the outfield and on the mound. Valenzuela graduated from Abilene Christian with a B.S. in business management in 2011 before beginning his coaching career at this alma mater.
Valenzuela was born and raised in Kona, H.I. and resides in Sacramento with his wife Leticia, son EZ, and their dogs Kona and Lilo.
