Following an All-Big Sky honor in 2025 to cap off his playing career, Rutchena began his coaching journey ahead of the 2026 season as an offensive quality control and assistant tight ends coach for the Aggies.

Prior to spending his graduate season in Davis, Rutchena was a four year player for the University of California, playing in 24 games while starting in four.

After receiving his Bachelor's in Legal Studies from Cal in 2024, Rutchena graduated from Davis with a Master's of Management in 2026.
